I'm looking for info and photos of the Dodge D8a-8 CWT truck.

If you've ever wondered what became of the 1941 1/2 ton WC cab/chassis units that went to Britain, some were converted to these trucks.

They have a shorter, but wider, bed. The bed is almost square, and is as wide as the fenders and sits above them. There is a large gap between the bed (which is pushed back even with the bumperette) and in this gap is what looks like storage bins and possibly an auxilliary fuel tank. The wheels have been replaced woth wide desert types, and the rims are quite different. What gives it away is the standard 1/2 nose. These were converted for use in North Africa. I've only seen one photo of one on a Luftwaffe airfield (captured, no doubt), and a photo of a 1/35th resin model by Roy Models ($89.95).

Roy models also makes a model of the Dodge D-15-15 CWT truck. This appears to be a 1940 with VC style sheetmetal, but a non-Dodge bed.

(Photos of the resin kits are in Fine Scale Modeler Sept 2000 page 25.)

If anyone has photos or info of these vehicles, I'd be interested in obtaining copies.
