WD is a 2x 1 ton is it not???

suggest raising truck and blocking on front axle. start identifying shimmys from wheels back. grab wheel(s) push at 12:00 and pull at 6:00. if you get movement laterally, king pins/ bushings are likely needing replacement. work your way back checking each joint either fixed or movable. ball joints and king pins may be tough to find, i'd start with vendors listed on this sight,, also some vendors are listed in hemmings..

drag link can often be "tightened up " by disassembling,, cleaning years of crud and rust out,, lubricating and reassembling per shop manual.

also steering box is often a source of slop. gear lube in boxes often drains out over the years, wear creates excess movement (slop ) in box. the box can often be "tightened up" see shop manual. i use grease in any steering boxes that won't hold gear lube...

if you do not already have shop manual get one,,, VPW has them,, great help...
