I just went through this problem with my 46 WDX.
I have been running a pulse type pump for the last
17 years with no problems. On the 98 Rendevous in
Colorado the pump died. Fortunately I carried a
spare(6 volt positive ground pumps are not readily
available everywhere) so I made it back. I replaced
the bad pump with a new one from NAPA. The new pump
lasted 11 months. The rubber diaphram disintegrated
from the RFG gas in this area. NAPA replaced the
pump under warranty but it was a different style
pump. They said the pulse type pump was being
replaced by a rotory vane type pump (Carter). The
only problem is that the new pump is negative
ground. I wasn't sure that it would work but I
decided to try it. I bench tested it and it did
work running a positive ground, the rotation of
the pump didn't change. I don't know the fuel
pressure requirements of a 707 Mack engine, but
Carter makes several models of this style pump.
