First off, are the plug wires wired correctly? Did you chanbge the coil to a 12 volt unit when you converted the rest of the ignition? How about the ballast resistor? Bypass it and see if you aren't cutting the voltage too low. How long have the points sat without being used? Use an emory board on them (lightly) and then run a dollar bill between the points to clean them. Lastly, are you sure the distributor isn't turned half way around? If you twist it a little bit and the engine runs, but poorly and blows blue flames out the carb. you have it 180° off time.
