Well that's what it was designed for....
The power-to-weight ratio, plus the gearing and the tyre configuration, seem to be ideal from cross-country stuff, especially with a minimal load. Don't forget the chassis flexibility too.
The 3/4 ton is a much more strongly constructed animal, but with basically thr same HP for more wight it isn't going to be as agile.
I've got a VC 1 Command Car chassis here and you should see the repair on it though, espcially the front end spring hangers and motor mount areas, so go carefully.
