Fuel pressure adjustment shims.

Hay I was talking to my father and he remembers year back on cars that had to much fuel pressure. They would install some type of shim between the block and the pump to move the lever ferther from the cam to lower the psi. Has anyone ever done or seen this?? Thanks Bill.
