I really enjoyed Rick's visit. What made it even more special is he brought his son who has a serious interest in history, particularly of World War II.

I have made my collection readily available to others in the Museum format and through the Museum web site to perpetuate the history of these great trucks. It is important that we all learn and share this history. As I pointed out to Rick and his son, the Museum’s $2,700.00 worth of reference material is as significant as are the various trucks.

There have been some folks who are focused on showing off a shiny (Mac would say, “Greasy”) truck that does not really represent the Power Wagon’s heritage.

I do not challenge anyone’s right to build a truck using a non-Dodge chassis and drive train, finished off with a fiberglass body or a few actual Power Wagon body panels and to claim they have a Power Wagon. I am okay with repowering to extend a Power Wagon’s ability to perform the jobs it was originally designed for - MOPAR please. And I am particularly grateful to Tim Peterson and Ray Suiter for the added safety of their disc brake conversions.

The word,” Icon”, is used to identify something or someone that represents some special quality. People still look at a WC-PW-M37 and consider that image as the icon for all rugged, go anywhere vehicles. I hope that we all do our part to preserve that icon.

When Rick brought his son here and they listened to my sometimes endless discourse on these trucks and their history, I had a good feeling that here was a father and a son who were sharing a common interest. This was good for them. But I had an even better feeling that they would be some of the great folks that help to preserve the Power Wagon icon.

Thanks for coming.
