I could not believe the guy that came by last night. I have a 100' douglas fir that needs to come down as it died last year. I normally take them down myself but there is not way to drop this one because of its location. It could be dropped accross the road if I wanted to. This guy says they will run a guy up the tree and limb it on the way up and chunk it into 10' pieces on the way down. I requested that all the limbs and chunks of the tree be left right were they fall and I will clean it up. I have had this done before. It will take a maximum of 1 hour for the guy to do it. The quote was for $1,150 + tax. I know that there is laiability insurance and costs of doing business. They said they were sweeping through the area this week and had a lot of jobs lined up so the start up costs will be shared. I just can't see more than a $100 in costs for them for an hours work. The mark up is really high. I guess I live too close to Microsoft and they feel everyone is rich in the area.
