My apologies for this topic getting sidetracked. That happens sometimes, but we all want to make sure that you find the correct filter element for your canister.

If you have the common Deluxe Clean Oil canister, then the sock type element that VPW shows on their website, and the NAPA 1011 and all of its Wix equivalents, are the type of filter you need. If however, you have some other canister, then the sock type may not be what you need. The whole thing that makes it questionable is that you found a NAPA 1010 filter in your canister. Either you have some canister other than the Deluxe that is meant to accept the NAPA 1010, and the older ones that it replaced, or someone put the wrong filter in your canister.

As Paul mentioned, you may have a canister that requires the "Military Junior" element. As Tom mentioned, it may accept the JC 405.

Here is an image of what you should see under the cap of your canister if in fact it is a Deluxe model. The hemisphere perforated sheetmetal part forces the sock type element down and shapes it into a dome. If you do not have this part, it may just be missing, or you may have another type of canister.
