Thanks for the information. The government is the chief culprit responsible for excessive price spikes, with endless regulation on every aspect of the fuel supply industry.
So far, thankfully, they have not made the mistake made in the seventies and imposed mandatory price controls. These high prices will ultimately dampen demand and there will be lower prices in the future. They of course could be much lower if the drillers and refiners were given an unconditional green light...but, it ain't going to happen.
