I learned a long time ago the first rule in righting an overturned vehicle is to set the brake. Also, set the rigging so it doesn’t over-roll to the other side. Every winching book provides these instructions. Obviously these road rescuers weren’t paying attention in class.

I knew some off-roaders who rolled a Toyota Landcruiser down the side of a hill. One guy had gotten out to guide the other guy around a “road-closed” gate (illegal). He was attempting to go around the gate on the down hill side. Didn’t make it. Rolled to the bottom. The Landcruiser had a full roll cage and the guy had a complete body harness seat belt system. When the other guy got to the bottom to see if the driver survived he found that the guy was still in the harness totally unharmed with the truck on it’s side. When he released him from the harness the resulting weight shift caused the truck to roll one more time breaking the driver’s leg. Idiots! Always stabilize the vehicle before doing anything else.
