The LU2 has an aluminum housing, and was used on the W100-W300s in 1957-71, and some of the 1972 and newer trucks.
What you have looks like the cast iron MU2, which would make sense for a 1958 W300M.

With the numbers off that pad you should be able to figure out the model of the winch, and maybe the year it was made.
