Paul,
You're using a poor powdercoating company. In Vancouver, even bridges are powder coated now.
If you're comparing powder coat to high quality epoxy...they are close. The advantage with powder coat is that it's 25% of the cost.
If you're comparing Powder Coating to POR15....that's like comparing having an engine rebored & fully rebuilt to pouring in a can of engine renew.
POR15 is no better than Tremclad.
I just don't want to see anyone looking for a good job buying this crap. Go to any body shop in the US & see if they have a tin in the paint room...not!
If a guy is looking to skip 3 steps & save a ton of time but doesn't care in the slightest what the end result looks like...POR15 is a good product for you.
This is the nicest way I can find to tell new-comers to avoid this junk like the plague.
If they sell it at the Eastwood Company...it's garbage.
I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings that have already bought & used this snake-oil...just trying to save the guys that haven't been sucked in yet.
