M43 starter mystery continued

A couple forums back, I asked about a whether a bendix-type starter was ever used on an M37/M43. The consensus was no. My ambulance has a partial 12 volt conversion, including a 6 volt non-pedal civilian starter controlled by a 12 volt starter relay and a key switch. I'm changing the system to 24 volts so my military gages, 2 ambulance exhaust fans, fuel-fired heater, and hot water heater will all work. The truck came with a 24 volt bendix type starter laying in the back which I was going to use if I could find a 24 volt starter relay. During the previous discussion, we concluded that only a foot-pedal starter is "correct" for those trucks, and the 24 volt bendix type starter must have been off of some other civilian equipment.

I got to looking at it, and it has an ordnance part number, 11640749, on it. So, it seems to me it has to have been used on a dodge flathead 6 on something military. My M43 has the holes in the floorboard for a starter pedal, but I'm still wondering if it's possible that it could have had the bendix type 24 volt starter sometime in its military career. Or, I'm just wondering what military equipment this 24 volt bendix type starter was used on.
