Anything of the weasel tribe is pure fearless carnivore. They're all wolverines at heart. I've twice seen a little short-tailed weasel, with a body not more than 6" long, hold its own in a standoff with my dog. One the weasel was in a rock pile, and another time it was under part of my backhoe, so it could always duck inside if it had to, but it never did. The dog was used to rodents that squeek and run, not this little devil baring its teeth and snarling at her. She must have gotten nipped on the nose a couple times because she was keeping just out of range, but the little weasel had no fear. I'm sure in its mind, its squeeky little snarls were like the roar of a lion.

At first glance, the variety of species that make up the weasel tribe looks about like the variety that makes up the rodent tribe, ranging from field mice up to beavers, and all being short-legged and furry. Once you see them in action, however, the difference between the vegetarians and the carnivores is like night and day.
