There's a great locally sponsored Cruise-In every other Saturday evening in Hagerstown, MD. Being a mile or so from the house, it's the best place to bring my vehicles. Last night I drove the WC6. You could hear necks snapping as the heads turned. No sooner had I parked when I was besieged as usual by pic snappers, "what is it" questions, and several really interesting old fellows who knew what they were looking at. One old guy was retired FBI and had a lot to say about the 1928A1 Thompson riding in the leather scabbard at my left elbow. While I was looking east and absorbed in conversation, the blackest, meanest Thunderhead I've seen in years was fast approaching. It was then that I realized that in 20 minutes, several hundred cars had already didi'd and it was time for me to DIDI MOU!!!. (that's 'Nam slang for get outta Dodge or get in the Dodge and GIT! I have never had such an adventurous 1 mile drive. Top was up (high marks to Beachwood Canvas for a top that took a recorded 59 mph gust from broadside) but all it seemed to do was to funnel the rain right at me.
The gusts literally took my breath away.
3 dollars change in my shirt pocket got blown out and gone. The vacuum wipers and 6-inch blades were lots of help, NOT! So I got home to remember that I'd left the M38 and the M37 (loaded with cardboard boxes of books and papers, OUT of the barn. So it was get the WC in the barn, back out the gator, get the M38 in and then the M37 and then strip off the top layer of boxes which had completely melted in 15 minutes of absolute downpour. Wiped the vehicles down, and by then the storm was passed.

Of all my rigs, the Command Car is by far the crowd-pleasure. Thank God I put in a brand new battery before taking it to the show. The old one might well have left me cursing in the parking lot during the Typhoon of 08.

If any PW or MV guys want to make the show, here's the deal: a summer BBQ at my house and then a procession to the show at the Valley Mall. The gate fee of $2.00 goes to Dreams Come True for sick children.
