Being as you say it is 400-700 I know it is a owners manual. In 81-370-6365 for 400-700 there is what looks to be the same text.

Anyone who wants to read the whole text from that section (there is text on three pages), look at this link:

http://imageevent.com/townwagon/w500winchtext

If you read closely you can see that everything dealing with the winch is exactly the same no matter what. Only the way you engage the PTO changes depending on which transmission you have. That makes sense, as different transmissions have different PTOs.

There never was a W500 only parts book that I know of, all of the W500 stuff was either mixed in with the 100-800 service manual, or the general parts book. Even the owners manual you are quoting covers all the 400-700 models 2wd and 4wd, there just is not a lot of W500 specific winch information in the 60s.

By the way, the picture you seem to love of that Crew Cab truck has the EXACT winch and winch bumper that Jerry and I keep showing you. The only difference is that someone added a grill guard.

I fully accept that many W500 trucks have had other winches and bumpers put on them over the last 30 to 40 years, but that does not change what the factory supplied.

Got any proof that talks about different winches, not just different PTOs for the different transmission options?

By the way, thanks for showing me that part of the owners manual, I did not know that the 5 speed and the 4 speed had different PTO engagements, I learned something new. But it does not change the winch itself, or the bumper.

Eric
