Windshield frame question

I removed the front windshield on my 47 FF to get the glass replaced. I was not able to get the screws out of the frame where the window crank conects to the frame so I cut them off hoping to drill through them. That was a lot easier said than done. I have gone throught about 5 drill bits trying to get drill those darn screws out. Any suggestions? Robert N.
