After a bad experience with an "antique" seller (they always seem to be the worst) early on on ebay, now if I have a any doubts, I check the "feedback left for others" section. That tells me more about the guy's personality than the feedback other people leave for him. Any seller, if they sell long enough on ebay, will end up with some negatives -- some people just can't be pleased -- but when you check their "feedback left for others" you can see the general tone of their replies. If you see a bunch of full-auto responses to people who left reasonable, articulate negative feedback like "cashed my check but I never got item" or "item broken due to poor packaging", that's a big red flag. No matter how attractive the item is, steer clear of people like that. Another red flag is when their feedback is pointless personal attacks like "you are a crazy idiot", or is the same generic slam that they leave everybody who criticizes them. It's normal to have a standard positive feedback statement that you copy and paste for every good buyer, but when a guy copies and pastes his negative feedback, that's a bad sign.

When I looked at his feedback, this PWP guy is kind of on the border. His more recent feedback (received and left) is better than his older feedback, so maybe he's improving, or maybe unhappy buyers just decided not to leave any feedback at all rather than risk being slammed. His overall feedback of 96% is poor by ebay standards, but isn't atrocious. What's telling is that most of the negatives are pretty basic and calmly-written; he took my money and I didn't get my item, or the item had hidden damage, and yet in every case he argued with them in the feedback. Yeah, there's two sides to every story, but this guy has about a dozen of pretty much the same story on his feedbacks. And he still has that pristine mil-surplus M880 grill for sale. I wonder how many times he's sold it.
