6 or 12 volt?

Yesterday I bought a C3-PW,which I assume is a 55-56 model.In the tech specs it says 55 is the first year of 12volt,but I know this truck is 6v.Was that an option or an error in specs recording?BTW I,ll ask the neighbor to show me to post pics,549 and 550 have a nice ring to them for the registry.The other truck is my orange k-6
