The snow around my house and most other areas is completely gone, except the higher elevations, obviously. All of the creeks that dump into the lake are really high, and the Corps of Engineers is apparently leaving the dam at the Albeni Falls wide open because the lake is nowhere near the level it usually is at this time with normal run off.
In Jan. of 1969, we lived just north of Morro Bay on the Calif. coast. We got 26" of rain in 2 weeks. A friend of mine lived on the other side of a tiny creek that he actually drove his old Jeep pickup through every day of his life. During this rain the creek raised about 3'. He tried to cross it, stalled the engine, then made the mistake of opening the driver's door , which let the water rush into the cab, overturning the pickup and drowning him. Since then I have had a very high respect for the force of water. Be careful. JH
