Did you offer to pay him his trouble? That's usually the issue with shipping -- customers expect it to be free, even when you have to rustle up the materials, which aren't free, pack the thing well, and get it to the shipper. Of course some people simply don't want to mess with it even if you do offer them money. I suspect everybody would ship for the right price. So it's really a matter of price. I have a lot of stuff here I could sell in a heartbeat if I'd ship it for free (3 CUCV Blazer rear windows, for example), but if the item is big, heavy, fragile, and cheap, and I need to crate it for shipping, it stops being cheap.
