Stepped studs are not hard to make. I used the drill press last time I needed a couple. Chuck the 7/16 bolt in the drill press, and use a die grinder and cut off wheel to reduce the end to 3/8 - .365 to .375 erso. Then unplug the machine, clamp your die in a vise, and start the threads by turning the chuck by hand, that makes the threads as straight as if done by a lathe. You would only need a couple in a differential mount,to locate it, since fasteners hold by the friction caused by bolt tension. And the pumpkin is not trying to spin anyhow.
