... I had an OEM tire on my 1997 Ford truck that had been put up as a spare, and which had zero miles. It was about 6-7 years old when I got the truck, and looked basically brand new, fuzz and all. I put it in service when I got the truck and rotated the tires, and parked the truck.

The next day, the truck was parked in its place, when I noticed that the tire was flat. More like destroyed proved to be the case on closer look, it looked like it had exploded suddenly. No evidence of road hazard or other cause at all. My tire guy said this does happen, and that using any tire over 5 years old is not a good idea here in AZ due to the heat - of course you would expect that from a tire dealer, eh? Anyway, I'm sure glad I wasn't driving at 60mph when it happened.
