What most laws state that children are not allowed in the front seat even after they are out of a car seat. Mainly because the airbag will decapitate them. However, many pickups that are not an extended cab or a crew cab have a switch to turn off the airbag for when a child is in that seat. In our ffPW there is no danger of decapitation from an air bag. However, a good seat belt and car seat is appropriate if they ride in the front seat.

A lot of states require a booster seat until age 14 or 90lbs. This is to make sure that the seat belt goes across the hips correctly and the fact that kids do not have strong enough bones until that age. Apparently kids were having sever damage from the seat belt being above the hip bones and in an accident the seat belt was doing a lot of damage to internal organs.
