my rim split in half and aint no wives tale. But, in your defense the 9.00 x 16 was on their for years and years before it split. I still would never run 9.00s on the skinny ringed rims not only because they are incorrect but because i dont like the way they look. The combat rims and the 6.5 split rims look better and are stronger so that is what I would use.
