Previous suggestions are great. I would just add a couple of my own.
I put a polyvinyl plastic strip between each leaf of the spring pack. It is less messy and doesn't attract dirt as 90W would do, but it does the same thing: reduce friction between spring leafs, so they slide easier; 'softening' the springs. Street rod and racing supply shops sell the stuff and it is not expensive ~$12 for 20 ft.
For noise and vibration: I am a mechanical engineer by trade and shock and vibration is one of my specialties. I hadn't thought of closed cell camping pads, good idea. I used a glass fiber mat sanwiched between aluminum foil. Good for heat and sound deadening, you just can't put it anywhere it will get wet (like in the doors or on the floor). Just use a good adhesive, you don't want to be tearing apart your cab to re-glue a loose piece. Fused rubber mats are a good idea for the floor, just make sure they get dry underneath or your floor will rot out. I used line-x on the three removable floor panels and that works well.
For the doors, I used dynamat pads that I got cheap and they work very well. The key in the doors is to use something that dampens the vibration without absorbing water.
Automotive engineers spend an inordinate amount of time sealing up all the holes in the passenger compartment to get a quiet ride. Outside sound can come throught the smallest holes.
