I know exactly what your talking about. The other day my dad gave me a box of stuff from his garage and amongst them were some modified wrenches and sockets. I added these to my collection of oddities. But near the bottom was a wooden box (obviously homemade) and inside was a set of angle head wrenches (like for working on big hydraulic lines) as I inspected them a little closer and noticed that they had been flame cut out of various thicknesses of plate and crudely stamped with the respective sizes. I asked my dad about it later, and he said he had made those, because he couldn't afford to buy a set from a store and he needed them for his job(he used to work for a local logging company). Very cool, and something I will pass on to my kids.
