Otherwise, disassemble, clean and lube, then re-assemble. DO NOT ever stretch the springs or bend their mounting tabs, advance systems are critical.

Bushing wear would allow the shaft to wiggle around. Try wiggling the parts, see if they will open the points erratically.

The bushing may be available from the local hardware store. Might need to be reamed to .501" after assembly. Or maybe delicately honed to fit with sandpaper.

You will also need to replace the oil pump with a civvy one, the slots are off center and mismatched parts will wobble around and wear out the distributor, see above.
