They crack easily. They're also pretty easy to braze. Unless you're determined to have a perfect one (good ones are scarce), I'd suggest brazing the old one. Drill a small hole just past each end of the crack to relieve the stress, grind out the crack in between, plug flux on it, heat the whole area until it's barely red, fill up the V with brazing, and let it cool slowly. Some people bury it in vermiculite or dry sand or wrap it in fiberglass insulation. I just let it cool still air. It should be good for a long time. You'll need to get it milled flat before you bolt it back onto the block, but you'd have to do that with any manifold.

The intake/exhaust assembly is a little tricky because they have to align with each other at the heat riser and at the block. Best is to assemble the manifolds together loosely with a new gasket in between. Bolt the assembly up to the block. No need to torque it down carefully, but get the nuts snug. Then tighten the 4 bolts that hold the heat riser together. This is the final assembly of that part. Then remove the assembly from the block and take it to the machine shop to have the surface of both manifolds ground smooth as one unit.
