I just installed 150 ft of galvanized 1/2" cable on my MU2. I was worried about it being too stiff but it worked out ok. Haven't really had a chance to use it yet. I think it was about $1.25 per foot from a local rigging supply company. 150' nearly filled the drum rolled neatly.
I think non-galvanized was about $0.25 per foot cheaper. I didn't price stainless.
