I think it's in the range of reason, price-wise, assuming some negotiating room. Plain M35A2s are selling for $4K-$5K from the major dealers these days. GL selling prices seem to be all over the place ($1.5K to $5K) depending more on the base they're being sold off of and the number of bidders than anything else. I think an M35A3 recently sold for $17K from GL. "Value-added" equipment includes winch, cab heater, hard top cab, and air-lock transfer case. From the picture it looks like it has a hard cab but no winch. The ad doesn't say about a heater or air-lock transfer case. For a van/camper, you probably want a boarding ladder too. If it was made by Kaiser Jeep, it was probably made in the late '60s, between when Studebaker and AM General had the contract. All in all, if I was selling something with an asking price of $6K, I'd consider this as a trade, assuming that my price and his were both negotiable. For the high end of the price range, I'd want to make sure that the body was good (check especially door bottoms, cab around door bottoms, and under-side of bed) and the engine ran well and hadn't been converted to diesel-only or to an ether-start system. I'd also want an air-lock transfer, though some people like the sprag just fine.

Make sure he has the title. The last I heard, GL was no longer giving form 97s (certificate to obtain title) with their trucks, which means a big hassle getting it titled. If this guy just bought his from GL, he may not have a title or a form 97. Another thing that worries me about GL is that they're sending me letters saying that stuff I bought years ago has changed from demil A to demil C and must be returned for destruction. So far they're only going after obsolete electronic equipment, but there's no reason they couldn't start doing it with trucks and truck parts as well. One that started happening, I've quit buying anything from them. What's the point of driving 800 miles at $4/gal to pick up a load of stuff when 5 years later they'll tell you that if you still have it, they want it back so they can crush it?
