Dan, I'm David, not Dennis Sherman (I finally changed the D. to David so I'd quit confusing people. Anyway, one way to see how it's supposed to look is look for the "Yorkshire Dodge" models that are regularly for sale on ebay. Your gin pole looks different from mine. You're probably right that it was added on. My truck appears to have all the original hoist setup except the auger itself. It has the drive shaft for the auger, but it's solidly rusted and slightly bent. I assume it attaches to the front PTO and goes to the top of the hoist frame, from which the auger hangs down, possibly via some other (missing) shaft. There are two winches in the bed, chain-driven from another PTO. The shaft turns, and the winch drums are individually clutched onto it. The shaft sticks out the right side of the utility body, where it presumably was used to wind a cable spool. I'm not sure how the winches are rigged, but I assume one was to raise and lower the boom and the other went over the block at the top of the boom to actually lift the poles.

I'm sorry the picture here doesn't show the whole hoist setup. I can't get another picture until the snow melts. In the picture, the stock hoist frame is folded back onto the top of the utility body. The pivot points are out of the picture, but are at the ends of the two pieces that angle forward and are attached about a foot and a half below the top of the rectangular front frame.

One thing this truck definitely does is give you an appreciation for how hard it was to create motion in various places without hydraulics. I'm sure it sets a PW record for the maximum number of gearboxes, drive shafts, and chains on one truck.
