W500/NP540/PTP????

I posted this on the Sweptline Forum, and would appreciate any comments available here, as well. I really got the cart ahead of the horse this time. I mounted a pto winch on the front of my W500, before I bought a pto that would fit the NP540. A while back I bought a Chelsea pto that was supposed to fit the NP540. Today I pulled the cover off the driver's side to mount the pto and found that the drive gear on the NP540 has straight cut gears and the pto drive gear has helical gears. Does anyone know if this is common? Or are there different models of the NP540 with different drive gears? I would appreciate any help. Thanks. JH
