Hello all,

After 14 years of using my 1941 Dodge WC 12 as my daily driver, I have put this venerable old war horse on light duty. It is not retired (antique plates), but will be used for local hauling of things that won't fit into my van or cars.

There are several reasons for the change: my age (within 1 std deviation of the avg age of PW owners), the trucks age, the availability of parts, the need to constantly wipe the condensation off the inside of the windshield on cold, rain days, and foremost cost of gas. Although I only drive 12 miles a day (round trip), the pain at the pump caused more than a slight gasp.

The Dodge has been replaced with a good, used, cheap economy car (try finding all three of those criteria) that is over 50 years newer, has a manual transmission, radio, power steering, power brakes, and AIR CONDITIONING. Hopefully, no more wiping the condensation off the windshield.

Having been around in 70s, I remember plenty of good cars, which voraciouly consumed premium (leaded, too) gas. These road warriors were often sold quite cheaply.

I will have to occassionaly drive both the WC12 and WC53 to keep things from deteriorating and to attend various military vehicle displays and events.

Dave
