I had a 77 W200 Snowplow pkg back in 80 or so, it had a factory 440, I drove it 200 miles to work and got 6mpg, went back to town put on Hooker headers and duals and pulled down 12 mpg, put on selectro front hubs (don't know if they still make them) and a part time gear in the transfer case and didn't really notice a difference in hwy mileage but around town was maybe 1 mpg better, probably would notice it more with a 360 though, that 440 had the torque to lug anything around.
I remember the hubs stuck way out, just in case you want to run skinny wheels, the hubs could get damaged.
