They most definitely had problems with the NV5600 in model year 2000. They had to discontinue it for a while. they claim it's fixed now. They had problems with snapping input shafts and one of the bearings. Why they didn't use an Eaton/Fuller FSO-6406A (660 ft-lb cap.) or 8406A (820 ft-lb cap.) is beyond me. Any why they don't use transmissions with the highest gear direct and just offer 2.73 and 3.08 diffs, instead of 3.55s and 4.10s, is also beyond me. Doesn't it make sense to have the power flow go straight through, not stressing any gear teeth or bearings, in the highest gear, the gear that demands the highest engine torque? why do you think they put all those stickers "Don't use overdrive if you are towing heavy trailers or loaded to GVW"?
