After a close look at my coil,I noticed it had numerous cracks in the outer case. This particular case was made of possibly a bakealite material. The new coil is in a metal case, but slightly taller than the original.I then noticed the disk in the bottom of the coil compartment. Is this an Ohm resistor? The hot wire enters this disk & comes out to the positive side of the coil.To make the coil fit,I had to remove the disk & resplice the leads.Could the new coil have a built in resistor,or do I need to place a resistor in the hot wire lead on the outside of the dist.I would like to remain original if possible. Thanks Jim in OK
