Found a beautiful M37 for sale, 1951 with winch. Owner bought it direct from army in early 70s. Says he started his restoration in 1979 and it took him until 1996 to get in in the shape it is in now. He is a professional mechanic by day, and says he did all the work on the truck. Let me tell you, it is gorgeous. Everything rebuilt or replaced. All military and original, right down to the pioneer tools and US Army canvas cover on the winch.
Troop seats. Canvas top (cab and bed) along with some other parts are like-new NOS which he got from a local army base which closed recently. Whole body looks perfect. Engine sounds like new. I don't have the expertise some of you guys do in restoration, and I haven't seen as many Power Wagons as most of you guys (I do own a 67 W300), but I've been to a lot of car shows and military vehicle shows, and this is the best I've seen. I climbed underneath, and you can eat off any part of the drivetrain it is so clean. I'd like to restore my W300 some day, and if I can get it even close to the job this guy did, I'll be a happy man. I've seen a lot of M37s in the $7000-$8000 range which are pretty nice. The guy wants $15000 for this, and he says FIRM. This baby looks like it just rolled off the assembly line in 1951. I think it is worth it. Would you M37 gurus pay $15000? (p.s. If I don't buy it, I'll post the owner's number for others to check it out)
