I bought a 2000 2500 Quad Cab, longbed 4x4 in February. I got it off of the dealers lot, and as such ended up with a bunch of crap I didn't really want. I was trying to hold off for the ETH engine with the 6 speed, but after 6 months of waiting I finally gave in. Had I ordered in February the truck would have been delivered as a 2001. I believe the model year cut off date is around Jan. 15. I paid 28,700 for a truck with everything but leather and CD player. I have an automatic, 4.10:1 gears, and 265/75-16 tires. At a steady 65 mph the engine turns exactly 2000 rpm's and I consistently get 24 mpg (empty), cruising at 78-80 mph drops it down to just over 19.5 mpg. As for power, with an empty bed and a rain slicked road it will fishtail all the way to 50 mph, childish I know, but fun. It's really fun to blow away unsuspecting Camry drivers who try to pass me at red lights. Basically, I use it as a daily driver so I'm not too concerned about the durability of the automatic for towing, or hauling heavy loads. I'm going to be in the market for a new dump truck soon, so hopefully I'll be able to get the ETH engine with a 6 speed in that.
