No, you cannot assume it will interchange because the driven gear in the PTO is more likely to be forward or rear of the vertical centerline of the PTO assembly than it is to be exactly centered on the vertical centerline of the PTO assembly. Off center location means the driven gear will not mesh with the drive gear in the transmission when the PTO is switched to the opposite side of the transmission case. However, you might be able to relocate the driven gear on the PTO by disassembling and reassembling the drive gear shaft in the PTO. Then again, you may not be able to do this because of interference with other gears inside the PTO (their location is at the same place to where you need to move the driven gear).

However, if you lead a blessed life, then the driven gear will be centered in the PTO and the swap will be easy. How blessed do you feel?
