I'm in the same boat.

I've been shopping around for a new truck for a while also. In the past month of searching heres what I've come up with:
The prices people are asking for used 24v diesels with less than 100k on the odometer is crazy. You can buy a 2001 from Dave Smith motors in Idaho(I'm talking 2001, 6spd, all the bells and whistles) for around $27500-$28500 depending on the specials going maby less. This is how they work: $275.16 over the invoice price and no dickering. They say that they get a 3% kickback for the truck from the factory but I bet it's more, so I would dicker anyway as there is nothing to lose (We all need to save those clams for PW parts anyway!). Also right now you get a $1000 rebate from Dodge this month. It changes every month, so next month may be $1500 or $500 you dont know, but I've never seen them go over $2000 on the Ram line, so you could hold out for that.
Personally, I'm looking at a stripped down model that I hopefully can get for much less, If not that's OK, I am just as happy to go out and find a 12v '95-'97 rig for under 20k.
Another thing I've noticed is that most of the people who have problems with thier C/D rigs have all tried to "pump them up" a little or in some cases a lot! So I'm not going to get to radical with any mods. How mutch Q is enough anyway. Just my thoughts. Good luck!
