HUB PULLER
I don't know if your only pulling your brake drum or drum and hub. Here's a tip for making a home made puller that has plenty of pulling power. I'm assuming you have a full floating axle.

1. Get a piece of flat stock 1/2 thick, 2 inches wide, and about 7 inches long;
2. Drill two holes that match up to two wheel hub studs (the 1st about an inch from one end), and one extra on the other end so you can hang it on your shop wall;
3. Drill a hole for a 1/2 inch bolt equal distance between the two stud holes;
4. Buy two 3/8 bolts that have a 5/8 shoulder area (no threads) at no less than grade five;
5. Buy two 3/8 long nuts (1 inch in length, don't know proper name for them);
6. Cut 3/8 bolts so they can be screwed in 1/2 the distance of the long nut;
7. Buy a 1/2 bolt (same grade) 6 inches long;
8. Buy 2 nuts and 1 self locking nut for the 1/2 bolt;
9. Buy 5 flat washers that are 1&3/8 outside diameter for 1/2 inch bolt;
10. Buy 1 flat washer that is 1& 1/2 outside diameter for 1/2 inch bolt;
11. But 6 flat washers that are 1&3/4 outside diameter for 1/2 inch bolt;
12. Buy 1 regular 1/2 inch washer.

Assembly
1. On 1/2 bolt, put on flat stock;
2. Put on 1 regular washer and screw on one nut (used as torque nut);
3. Screw on another nut and put the 6 1&3/4 washers on, then the 1&1/5 washer and remaining washers;
4 Screw on the self locking nut and adjust all so self locking nut threads are on bolt, and tighten both nuts to hold washers securely.

You are now ready to pull!
1. Back off 1/2 inch torgue nut to nut holding the washers. Tighten the 3/8 bolts on the wheel hub studs;
2. Begin turning the torgue nut towards the flat stock and keep turning until hub is free.

Tip!
If you are pulling a hub that has frozen wheel cylinder pistons and worn brake drums, remove the wheel cylinder bolts before pulling. This tool will either bend the brake plate or pull out area where cylinder is mounted (experience!). You can expect the brake shoes to bend out with the hub as you pull, but they can be easily straightened.
