Yeah, you are right. It seems that one part of me wants to lock myself up in the barn for 3 months and get-r-dun but the other part knows better. Instead I will be washing my car in the driveway as the auction enters its last 60 minutes. It is what it is. It is not about the money - at all. It is about change. My other "toys" will sit in it's place but the old truck will sit in my heart. I am cleaning out my entire barn this spring - straight down to the concrete floor. Selling most everything. It is a 3 week Kaizen event that is long overdue. What I wanted to do I just can't. I wanted to empty the barn, organize my tools and sit the unit in the center and begin the teardown - down to the bare frame and rebuild. The hours required don't exist any longer. When I retire maybe - but then again when I have the time - it might not fit my life then. Darn - I'm screwed. :) I restored a Ford 641 tractor -totally and I never felt better. Sold it and bought a New Holland diesel 4x4. No regrets. Isn't that weird? About to offload my 1963 Avion (airstream) that wife and I spent 3 months restoring to like new. Life goes on and priorities change. You have to enjoy every day and age of your life always changing, adapting and appreciating those around you. A gentlemen will show up - happy of his find, I will feel bad but at the sametime happy for him and crazy enough - happy for the truck. Then I will help load it - exchange pleasantries and that will be that. I have not been on this forum for like 5 years. But I will wonder what became of the truck. I know one thing - it will not be recognizable - except by the serial number described on ebay for a restored Power Wagon listed at $30,000. And that is ok - they just better damn well drive it and enjoy it vs. sitting in some darn painted showroom floor. On second thought -that is ok too.
