My brother, who is an engineer at delphi and worked with the research and developement on brakes. He's told me NEVER buy the long lasting pads as they WILL eat up your rotors faster. Original and normal pads are the designed wear part, logical when you think about it. I'd rather replace pads than rotors anyway.
As others have said make sure all brakes are working equally. After a trip I feel, quickly, to make sure they are warm. Buddy has one of those infared temp finders that works like a charm for this. That will eliminate one possibilty. Fronts will always be hotter but the rears should be at least warm.
Most all aftermarket rotors are softer than factory. They generally come from Mexico and China. My brother said that they (factory)surface heat treat the surface of their rotors which doesn't go very deep. If you turn them very much you'll go through that layer and they will wear faster.
If I had to guess, I'd say your fronts are doing most of the stopping and with the harder pads you warping them as evidence as you stated they are okay for awhile.

Change a line recently? Possibly air in a line yet? Kevin
