A couple months after having a significant stroke, I was out driving my WC52 cross country at one of our Texas Power Wagon events. I had limited use of my right arm and had to reach across with my left hand to shift and engage the four wheel drive. That left me with half the hands I would normally use for steering, shifting, - oh yes - and using the hand brake as a hill holder when necessary.

Now that I am in my 71st year on this earth, I have learned that there's nothing silly about anything that would let me continue to enjoy these great old trucks.

Power steering allows even the "silliest" youngsters to change direction quickly for safety and to negotiate some tricky trails without holding up the rest of the group.

I sold my '54 PW with the ram steering assist and I miss that feature, particularly since it was such an easy modification.

My WC21, WC51, WC52, WC62, WDX, M37, W300M, and '67 W100 all do not have power steering, but INSTEAD OF HANGING UP THE KEYS and not enjoying my Power Wagons, I would add power steering without hesitation.
