A local m-ving and storage company went out of business and auctioned off all of their stuff. I went to get a bunch of packing blankets, for transporting custom cabinetry. Ended up with 60 blankets and 11 4 wheel dollys which will be handy in the spray room. got a really mice Metabo 1/2" drill and a big box of engine re-building tools.
It was interesting, they had 8 trucks, 3 van bodys and 5 semi's. The smallest van had a Cummins in it and was in really nice shape went for $7,000. The other 2 vans with 24' boxes didnt even sell. They couldnt even get opening bids of 7K on them. The first Semi, a 99 Freightliner with a sleeper cab in really decent shape went for 10K, and it was all the auctioneer could do to get that. The next 2 were newer Volvo's also with sleepers and they couldnt get the bidding started at 8K. Then a ratty looking Freightliner finally brought 6.5K. 53' trailers were going for 2K and down.
I guess its a good time to buy a rig, just a bad time to operate one!
