I did an experiment a few years ago.
I compared the durability of the finish on two sandblasted parts.
ONe part I painted with epoxy urethane paint from PPG (epoxy primer and then hardened urethane).
Another part I sandblasted, then painted with POR using their directions for prepping first.
(metal clean then metal ready)
I then dipped both parts in warm lye solution.
THe POR came off like butter, so there was bare metal. The urethane looked like I had dipped it in water, no visible damage.
