There are a couple of stores near me who ask to see the receipt when you leave the store (notably Fry's Electronics). I always just walk past them. I have my line ready, but so far I've never had to use it... "If you think I stole something, call the police and have me arrested; otherwise, get out of my way."
They have absolutely no right to search your bags or look at your receipts on the way out the door. They are presuming guilt. I've noticed that they never push the issue, which means that they've been instructed not to. Most people, like sheep, let them go through their bags and look at their receipts. I'll be hanged if I'm going to let them do that to me...
