Depends on what kind of gismos you have for your dial indicator.

Crank the side bearing nuts until the caps have spread by the .010 mentioned. Then set the leash by turning both adjusters, keeping the .010 preload.

Or set the lash to zero, then tighten the adjuster nut that will push the gears away from each other. When the lash gets to specs, the preload is good too.
